best for my healthy adult pet

We have a range of different plans for you to choose from, each one with amazing benefits. And although it is your choice to find a plan that suits you and your pet, here are some of our top pawsome plans for adult pets.

When it comes to choosing a pet insurance plan that not only suits your pet’s healthcare needs but your budget too, it can be a little tricky to know how to pick the right one, given the choices available to you, let alone the complicated legal lingo etc.

The first thing we need to clear up is that we don’t believe in overcomplicating insurance. Life's complicated enough, why should insurance be too?

Which is why we do everything we can to simplify the fancy terms and have done away with the hassle of claiming. And in our effort to make your life easier, we have broken down our top plan suggestions for healthy adult pets.

Why pet insurance makes sense, even if your pet is healthy

Planning for the unexpected

Far too many pet parents make the common mistake of only purchasing a pet insurance policy when their pet is sick. The issue with this is that now your pet has a pre-existing condition, which means you have to abide by our 12 month waiting period to claim for issues such as these.

Whilst your precious pet might be in her prime years right now, you never know when something might go wrong. You might find a cancerous lump on her tummy, or she might get in a fight with another dog at the park. And while you can’t predict when things go wrong, you can plan for when they do with pet insurance.

Emergency pet healthcare costs are no joke. Let alone the costs of treating chronic illness like cancer. The older your pet gets, the higher the chances of developing chronic illnesses are. Which is why it makes financial sense to insure the health of your pet as soon as possible.

Cover for day-to-day costs (wellness care and more)

We already mentioned that we pride ourselves on creating a claims system that is paperless and hassle-free. But did we chat about how we front you with cash BEFORE you see the vet of your choice?

Basically, if you have cover for vet visits and routine care included in your plan, then you put cash in your pocket (well, technically, we put money on your Onecard) for you to pay your vet up front for a vet visit.

What’s more, you can also use your health cover benefits to pay for a deposit when your pet needs emergency surgery in hospital. More on that in this blog.

In any case, with Oneplan pet insurance, not only do we cover accidents and illness, but we also have some pretty amazing benefits when it comes to wellness care and day-to-day costs. And knowing we are there to help you cover costs like check-ups, vaccines, dental care and more, might encourage you to more regularly visit your vet and thus, help improve your pet’s overall health.

Pet Hospital Plan

The basics of this plan

For only R155 a month for your dog and R140 a month for your cat, this plan includes cover for:

  1. Accidents - Up to R35 000
  2. Illnesses - Up to R32 000
  3. Kennel fees - If something happens to you and you are hospitalised and cannot look after your pet

Add routine care onto your plan

Although this plan does not include cover for vet visits and routine care, thanks to our recent add-on product, you can simply choose to boost up your cover with our Routine Care Plus benefit.

With this, for only R35 extra a month, you will receive an additional R350 in cover for routine care after a waiting period of 6 months (starting from the date you decide to purchase this additional product).

The great part about this is that with Routine Care Plus, this automatically includes our Excess Buster which means you can waive hospital excess fees.

Pet Classic Plan

The basics of this plan

This plan is pretty purrfect for adult pets specifically as it includes cover for routine care and vet visits.

For only R299 a month for your dog and R278 a month for your cat, this plan includes cover for:

  4. Routine care - R720 per annum
  5. Kennel fees - If something happens to you and you are hospitalised and cannot look after your pet

Add routine care onto your plan

As with our Pet Hospital Plan (as well as our Pet Super Plan), you can boost your routine care benefits when you purchase our Routine Care Plus product.

Get some expert advice

At the end of the day, the choice of picking a pet insurance plan comes down to personal preference and of course, some expert advice is also a great way to help you make an informed decision.

Which is why we recommend that you chat with your vet about what kind of plan and benefits your vet suggests will benefit you and your pet. For example, your pet might be prone to genetic conditions, meaning a pet insurance plan with higher coverage limits and additional benefits will suit you better.

If you want to chat with our team of experts, you are more than welcome to do so. We are ready and waiting. Plus, when you become a member of the Oneplan Family, thanks to our smart Oneplan app, you can use the in-app chat function to ask our team members any questions you might have.

Yours in affordable pet insurance designed with your pet in mind,
