Everything you need to know about Oneplan’s Core Plan - The perfect plan for students, young professionals and those wanting hospital cover and day-to-day benefits

If you are looking for affordable health insurance that includes more than just hospital cover, then our Core Plan might be what you are looking for!

What is health insurance?

Let’s first get the basics down.

Health insurance is an affordable alternative to medical aid. The difference between health insurance and medical aid is that we offer you specified limits to medical costs.

This means that we tell you exactly how much we will cover and for what.

Medical aid, on the other hand, is required by law to cover amounts that are determined by private hospitals and doctors. These amounts can not always be predicted and are often extremely high. To ensure you are covered, medical aids will require you to pay a higher premium.

If you can afford to have both health insurance and medical aid then these two products can work very well together.

Health insurance as gap cover

Health insurance can act as a form of gap cover when your medical aid doesn’t cover all the costs of medical treatment or when your medical aid savings run out.

How does claiming work?

Earlier we mentioned how we pay you BEFORE you see your doctor. How this works is with our Onecard.

The moment you sign your policy and your cover begins, we will send you your own Onecard. You then use this to pay for medical costs upfront.

All you have to do is login the Oneplan app, load your claim and within seconds, the money will be loaded onto your card.

You then swipe this at your doctor’s rooms and enter your pin (as you would a debit card).

Get in touch if you have any questions about our Core Plan and want to become a part of our Oneplan Family.

Yours in health,
