Oneplan and casualty cover: Visit the vet with Pawsualty for your pet

visit the vet

Casualty cover isn’t just for humans. Just like humans visit the doctor, pets need to visit the vet sometimes. Alongside all the awesome responsibilities that come with owning a pet like taking them for walks or making them good food, there also comes the financial side of things.

Taking good care of your pet means looking after all their essential health needs – both expected and unexpected. That’s where pet insurance comes in. Your pet is going to need to visit the vet at least once a year, more if they’re on a vaccination schedule or if something goes wrong. The reality is pets get sick. They have accidents. And when this happens, you need to be able to get them the help they need.

Not just any help: a “casualty visit to the vet” kind of help.

You see, when your child scrapes their knee or twists their ankle, you may be able to handle it at home. But wounds, injuries and illnesses in animals are foreign to us (unless you have veterinary experience). This means that should an incident occur, you want the most qualified person possible looking after your pet, which would be your vet.

What is Pawsualty for Pets?

Pet Insurance usually offers four types of pet cover: routine care, accident cover, illness cover and visits to the vet/casualty cover. Each of these categories plays an important role in maintaining excellent pet health.

That being said, a visit to the vet can be expensive, which is a concern for the average SA household. With Pawsualty for Pets, you gain the freedom to walk into a vets office when your pet needs to see the vet but they don’t need to be admitted.

How can I get casualty cover for my pet?

At Oneplan, we offer five pet insurance policies that have tails wagging nationwide.

However, not all of them include Pawsualty for Pets. The three that do are the:

  1. Pet Primary Plan
  2. Pet Classic Plan
  3. Pet Super Plan

These plans will get your pet from A to B when it matters the most.

The Primary Plan has the basics with a casualty limit of R1 000 per annum. The Classic Plan has a casualty limit of R5 600 and up to R1 400 per visit to the vet.
The Super Plan goes up to R6 600 per annum and up to R1 650 per visit to the vet. That’s a whole lot of money to save when you need it the most – and we know our clients have had many happy recoveries and healthy wallets after taking their furry friend for a check-up.

For all of these plans, a 30-day waiting period will apply before you can claim. But that will be totally worth it when you find out how easy claiming is with Oneplan.
