pet insurance plans for dogs

We have a range of different plans for you to choose from, each one with amazing benefits. And although it is your choice to find a plan that suits you and your pet, here are some of our top pawsome pet insurance plans for dogs that are healthy.

When it comes to choosing a pet insurance plan that not only suits your pet’s healthcare needs but your budget too, it can be a little tricky to know how to pick the right one, given the choices available to you, let alone the complicated legal lingo etc

The first thing we need to clear up is that we don’t believe in overcomplicating insurance. Life’s complicated enough, why should insurance be too? Which is why we do everything we can to simplify the fancy terms and have done away with the hassle of claiming. And in our effort to make your life easier, we have broken down our top plan suggestions for healthy adult pets.

Why pet insurance plans for dogs make sense, even if your pet is healthy

Planning for the unexpected

Far too many pet parents make the common mistake of only purchasing a pet insurance policy when their pet is sick. The issue with this is that now your pet has pre-existing condition, which means you have to abide by our 12-month waiting period to claim for issues such as these.

Whilst your precious pet might be in her prime years right now, you never know when something might go wrong. You might find a cancerous lump on her tummy, or she might get in a fight with another dog at the park. And while you can’t predict when things go wrong, you can plan for when they do with pet insurance.

Emergency pet healthcare costs are no joke. Let alone the costs of treating chronic illness like cancer. The older your pet gets, the higher the chances of developing chronic illnesses are. Which is why it makes financial sense to insure the health of your pet as soon as possible.

Cover for day-to-day costs (wellness care and more)

We already mentioned that we pride ourselves on creating a claims system that is paperless and hassle-free. But did we chat about how we front you with cash BEFORE you see the vet of your choice?

Basically, if you have cover for vet visits and routine care included in your plan, then you put cash in your pocket (well, technically, we put money on your Oneplan Claim Card) for you to pay your vet upfront for a vet visit – and we have no networks which means we let you visit any vet of your choice.

What’s more, we also pay up to R5000 for authorised hospital admission deposits or NO deposit if you are with one of our partnered vets. In any case, with Oneplan Pet Insurance, not only do we cover accidents and illness, but we also have some pretty amazing benefits when it comes to wellness care and day-to-day costs.

And knowing we are there to help you cover costs like check-ups, vaccines, dental care and more, might encourage you to more regularly visit your vet and thus, help improve your pet’s overall health.

Get some expert advice

At the end of the day, the choice of picking a pet insurance plan comes down to personal preference and of course, some expert advice is also a great way to help you make an informed decision. Which is why we recommend that you chat with your vet about what kind of plan and benefits your vet suggests will benefit you and your pet.

For example, your pet might be prone to genetic conditions, meaning a pet insurance plan with higher coverage limits and additional benefits will suit you better. If you want to chat with our team of experts, you are more than welcome to do so. We are ready and waiting.

Plus, when you become a member of the Oneplan Pet Family, thanks to our smart Oneplan App, you can use the in-app chat function to ask our team members any questions you might have.
