Health insurance for the whole family

The importance of keeping your family covered, and where we can lend a helping hand.

Oneplan is a family-orientated insurance company that makes it easier for families to get covered for the important stuff - big and small.

We created four comprehensive health insurance plans that aim to match your everyday family, no matter the size or budget.

We’ll start off with what you really want to know about, family discounts:

Not many South Africans can afford to join medical aid, especially if they have a family to support and who also need some sort of health cover. That’s where health insurance becomes a lifesaver, especially health insurance that offers discounts on family policies.

Let’s say for example that you and your partner have a Blue Plan policy. Combined, you pay R1540, because individually your plans are R770 per month, but with us, the cost per couple is only R1 485 per month. And if a child comes into the mix, you won’t be paying a full R770 on top of your policy. Their discounted rate will add to your policy, a couple and one child will cost R 1 925 on our Blue Plan, two children is R2 275, 3 is R2 600 and 4 children is R2 905.

Oneplan allows for a maximum of six people on your health insurance policy including you. When you sign up for a family policy, chat to one of our brokers about a discount plan specially made for you and your family. To find out more about discounted rates, let us call you to have a chat.

Why you need family insurance

Whether you’re already a parent or you see building a family in your future, it’s never too early to get your family insured. As a parent, everything you do and every choice you make is for the benefit of your child, and health insurance needs to fall into the mix.

With your little one running free in the world, you need peace of mind knowing you can protect them when things go wrong and when they need more than a plaster and a hug. Children are children and because of that, accidents happen. Parents need to account for the fact that their kids will get a little bumped and bruised on the way, and that they need to prepare themselves financially.

Private healthcare is the goal - but it’s next to impossible to afford it on your own. Knowing that your child can have private health care when they get sick or have an accident is a massive load off your shoulders, and it’s simpler than you could ever imagine.

You have school, extra lessons and university to start saving for and you can’t afford a costly medical bill to throw a spanner in the works.

Spend more time together with digital app-based claims

We believe that insurance should be easy, so we try our best to keep it that way. Claiming from us won’t leave you fried from paperwork and too grumpy to play outside with the kids. Instead, all it takes is a few minutes on your smartphone and boom, your claim will be sent through and loaded onto your Onecard.

If you don’t know already, your Onecard is a card sent directly to you when you join the Oneplan family. When you load a claim, money is sent to your Onecard BEFORE you visit the doctor or whichever appointment you’ve claimed for. When you need to pay after your appointment, you’ll simply swipe your Onecard as you would any normal debit card.

We do this because we don’t think it should be up to you to pay for claims upfront and wait for insurance to pay you back. You have responsibilities and commitments like everybody else, and we know that our system takes some of the pressure off.

Add new members using the Oneplan App

You can cross adding a new family member onto your policy off your list pretty quickly - because you can do it directly through the Oneplan App. All it takes is two steps: select ‘my cover’ and next, ádd member’. After that, you will be prompted to add in any relevant details about the new addition to your policy.

And just like that, the whole family is protected!
