Claiming has never been easier: How to claim for your car insurance with Oneplan
In a nutshell, the whole point of having insurance comes down to the moment you need to claim. So, if that’s the whole point, why do so many insurers make that the most complicated part?
When you’ve had a car accident and it’s crunch time (sorry, too soon?), the last thing you want to be dealing with is reams of paperwork and difficult underwriters. The rumour that insurance is inherently difficult is what drives us to make our insurance easy at every avenue. Our comprehensive cover aims to provide exceptional options for everybody at a flexible rate you can control. If you’ve found yourself asking,
“How do I claim from Oneplan if I crash my car? And what if it gets stolen?”
Firstly, great question. Secondly, you’ve come to the right blog.
If you’re in a bit of a hurry and consider yourself more of a visuals kind of person, we’ve got you covered (business as usual). Check out this video to start using our Oneplan App like a mamba. Prefer to see instructions in writing? Come along then.
A Step by Step Guide:
- Log in to the Oneplan App (if you’re logging in for your mother take ten deep breaths before reminding her you aren’t her magical password keeper)
- Enter your current policy number.
- Check out our menu icons and select “Car and Household”.
- Select the “my claims” icon and next select the “load claim” icon.
- Now you’re going to select which vehicle you want to claim for (should you have more than one vehicle policy with us) and the kind of incident you want to claim for.
- Complete the required incident info - and don’t skip out on the detail. The more thorough you are, the more we can help you out.
- Upload your images under “motor accident”.
A quick interlude: the pictures you upload are important. You can only upload them once so make sure you are sending pictures that are clear and focused and taken from all angles (of the car, not you). Remember that taking pictures at the accident scene will get you a waiver on your R2500 administration fee - score!Voila! Click process and our Oneplan team will take it from there.
Easy to claim, easy to pay
One thing about Oneplan is that we are (almost annoyingly) set on being an insurance brokerage known for flexibility and adaptability when it comes to individual clients. That’s why we have a sliding scale system. Ranging from 30% to 95% coverage, we will calculate the coverage value of your vehicle based on the percentage YOU have chosen.
Some things to keep in mind
With our insurance being as simple as it is - we want you to be prepared with the right documents as soon as possible before you claim.
In the event of a car accident or theft, you need to make your way to a police station as soon as possible. Car accidents need to be reported within the first 24 hours - anything longer and the report is in violation of the National Road Traffic Laws and could make your claim invalid which obviously isn’t ideal.
If there has been a third party involved - anybody that isn’t us or you - it is especially important that you make contact with the police and us as soon as you can. Obviously, in the event of serious injury, this won’t be possible and that will be taken into account. Leaving the police report too late could result in your claim being rejected and that’s never fun for anybody involved. Fleeing the scene is not advised, either.
Pssst: to brush up on what else could constitute a rejected claim, have a look here.
We created the Oneplan App to make your insurance experience as seamless as possible. We know that life comes at you fast sometimes and we want to get you back on your feet and dusted off as soon as possible. And do you know what? If the video and the blog haven’t helped you out, jump on the phone with one of our consultants - a team with trained nurses on board that would be happy to have a chat. We are excited to work with you in getting your claims up and running when you need it most!
Yours in flexible car insurance,
