Keep Your Vet With Oneplan Pet Insurance (Or Go To Any Vet Of Your Choice)
At Oneplan, we get that life is complicated, which is why we make sure our insurance isn’t. Instead of restricting your choices by giving you a network of vets you have to choose from, we let you go to any vet of your choice. And here’s what else makes us pawesome…
Here’s the thing -
At Oneplan, we make sure our insurance is easy to use, easy to understand and easy to apply. Because who has the time to read through pages and pages of legal lingo? In fact, we created simple policy docs just for that reason.
Before we get into the exciting bit, let’s first touch base on what pet insurance is and why you need it.
What is pet insurance?
This is one of our favourite questions!
Pet insurance is a form of pet medical aid. Just like how humans have medical aid or health insurance to help afford private healthcare and doctor’s bills, pet health cover works in the same way.
For a small monthly premium, your pet is covered for vet medical bills. Of course, the amount of cover you have and your benefits will depend on the plan you choose. The more comprehensive your plan is, the more cover you get.

What makes Oneplan cuddle-worthy?
We let you go to any vet of your choice
One of the worst things about getting a new pet insurance policy is finding out your vet is not covered on your insurer’s network of vets.
In all honesty, who has the time to find a new vet?
Then in the case of an emergency, you have to make sure you take your pet to a specified vet, and if not, your insurer won’t cover you. And let’s be honest, in emergency situations, all we care about is the health of our pet, not whether or not the vet is part of our insurer’s network.

Because of this, we don’t limit your choices to just a few vets.
We let you go to any vet of your choice.
Which means if you already have a vet you know and are happy with, then you get to stick with him or her.
We also pay you before you see the vet
Oh, and did we mention we pay you before you see your vet?
How we do this is using our unique Onecard.
Please note that this only applies to our pet plans that include vet visits and routine care.
For clients on a pet hospital plan or accident plan, then you wont need a Onecard as these plans include cover for emergencies and accidents only and not routine care.
However, if you choose our Pet Classic Plan, for example, then you will receive a Onecard.
When you become part of the Oneplan Family, we will send you your own Onecard.
Before you visit the vet, all you have to do is login to the Oneplan App, load your claim, and the funds will be transferred to your card within seconds.
You can then swipe your card at your vet’s office, the same way you would use a debit card.

When should I insure the health of my pet?
Bear in mind that there are age limits to any pet insurance policy.
At Oneplan, Pets must be older than 8 weeks and younger than 9 years. The sooner you insure your precious pet, the better.
But, if your dog or cat is getting older, then it’s a good idea to insure her health asap. As pets get older, their risk of chronic diseases will increase. Cancer and diabetes are some of the common issues seen in older pets.
Both of which require a treatment plan and in some cases, surgery. This can amount to very high vet bills. Pet insurance can help cover the costs of these issues.
Waiting periods and pre-existing conditions
If your pet starts to show any symptoms of a disease before your cover begins, then this will be classified as a pre-existing condition. This means you have to wait 12 months before you can claim for any vet bills relating to this condition. However, once this period of time is over, your pet’s health is covered.
A waiting period is a certain amount of time that has to pass before you can claim.
Have a look at our policy documents to find out everything you need to know about these terms.
