7 pawfect ways to celebrate the day of love with your furry bestie
We have put together a list of ways you can love your pet this Valentine’s Day (Hint - #5 is cuddle-worthy!)
Oh, February 14th, the day where we can show our loved ones that we care and who better to shower with our love and attention than our furry members of the family?
No one loves you more than your pet does and on this day of love, you should spoil him or her with all the love they deserve. Your pet is the one who is always there for you no matter what. He listens when no one else will, cuddles you after a bad day and you can even go for long walks on the beach together.
If you want to level up your Valentine’s Day and do more than just cuddles, keep reading…
1. “Treat” Bruno Right
In case you didn’t know this already, chocolate is bad for dogs and cats. It is actually toxic to them, so before you reach for those cute heart-shaped chocolates to share with your pet, think again…
BUT! There are a number of pawfect treats out there made especially for pets, from cookies to bones and more, the options really are endless. Just pop into your local pet store and see what they have to offer. There are also some great pet-friendly bakers out there who might be making something special for Valentine’s Day - so do some looking!
2. Get that toy Whiskers has always wanted
Maybe it’s just a ball of yarn, a new bed or a chew toy - treat your precious pooch or frisky cat with a new toy or something special just for this special occasion.
3. Prepare a dinner fit for a king or queen
Maybe you have a date for Valentine’s Day and are wondering what to wear or where to go for your night with that special someone, or maybe you are getting ready to binge watch your favourite series for the night, no matter what your plans are, why not prepare something special for your pet?
Of course, we are not talking about a steak and veggies kind of meal here, because that is very rich for pets and can actually cause your furry bestie to have an upset tummy for the night.
We are talking about mixing your pet’s dry food in with some wet food or giving them a new interesting flavour of gourmet pet food they love but it’s too expensive to buy all the time, just make sure you stick to pet food.
4. Pamper them
Now, no dog (or cat) likes to go the groomers (except for the few who do), so, as your pet wakes up in the morning, why not give them a cuddle and a brush to take this time to really bond with your pet pal and have them looking fresh and feeling good?
5. Say cheese
Now that your precious pet is looking all fab and groomed, set up a camera or have a friend come and help you out and have a photo shoot! These are the years you can never get back with your pet, so we suggest you capture the moments! If your pet is up for it, grab a heart bandana or jersey to dress them up for the special occasion.
6. Go for a long romantic stroll
There is nothing better than a walk in the park for your dog, when he or she wakes up in the morning or when you get home from work, stop putting off that walk and grab the leash! Your furry bestie is going to love it!
7. Make sure your pet is covered for anything that might go wrong
Now, we don’t mean to get all serious here, but the thing is, accidents do happen and you never know when something might go wrong. The best gift you can give your pet (and yourself) is to make sure they are covered with pet insurance.
And better yet, get pet insurance that pays you BEFORE you see the vet and has great routine care benefits as well as emergency cover with Oneplan.
We hope you enjoy this day of love and spend it loving your precious fur baby.
Yours in paws,
