The festive season is here and we have put together a list of the top holiday destinations that your precious pooch is welcome to stay at too!

From sunset beach walks, playing on the beach and swimming in the sea or river, summer holidays are where some of the best memories in life are made.

Because we know how important your precious pooch is to you (it’s why we offer pet insurance so wonderful you could cuddle it), we have put together a list of places, a travel guide of sorts, that covers dog-friendly accommodation in South Africa.

Gauteng

If you are staying on Gauteng over the holidays then Stone Hill is a pet-friendly haven! It offers 10 luxury self-catering cottages, each with a fenced garden for you and your dog. There is a walking and bike trail and a small river for you and your furry family member to explore. 

KZN

North Coast, Ballito

Situated 400m from the popular Ballito beachfront, Beach Forest Lodge has 4 spacious and beautiful self-catering apartments, each with its own braai area and patio and set in a tropical and peaceful garden of paradise. 

There is a great restaurant there too known as Galley Beach Bar and Grill which even has a doggie menu! If you want to go for a great walk there some great beaches and places to explore for you and your furry loved one.

Umhlanga

The Oyster Box in Umhlanga is a hotel that has earned every one of its 5 stars. It has pet-friendly accommodation which includes dog menus and beds for your precious pooch.

Drakensberg

There is a beautiful sanctuary in the Underberg, Lake Naverone where you and your dog can stay in a beautiful private stone cottage next to the lake. Everything is self-catering and its the perfect getaway.

A perfect getaway if you are looking for privacy is the Field and Stream: The Farmstead in Dullstroom. Take your pooch for scenic hikes or go fishing at some of the dams nearby. There are also some beautiful waterfalls on the farm for you both to swim in when it’s not too cold!

Western Cape

Blouberg, Cape Town

Self-catering by the seaside for you and your dog. This is the perfect beach holiday. The Blue Corner Guesthouse is situated 5 minutes away from the beach where you can swim, go for walks, get some sunshine and fresh air and enjoy the time together. There is also a dog park nearby.

Garden Route, Plet

The Cornerway House offers you and your dog rooms with private courtyards and a shared secured garden for your dog to run about in. There is a beach which is only a few minutes away and even some pet-friendly places to eat nearby!
